I’m a commuter, what are my dining options?

Commuter students have a host of options when selecting meal plans! Here are some possibilities:

  • Dining Dollars Only:
  • Commuter Block 20
  • 14 Meal Plan
  • 19 Meal Plan
  • 19 Meal Plan + $100 Dining Dollars (NEW)

What dining options are there on campus?

In addition to Piper Dining Hall, our all you care to eat traditional cafeteria style option, we are opening the Nest Café. This is in the Nest in the Student Center and will allow students additional flexibility and value in campus dining. They will have grab and go convenience store items like candy bars and sodas, but also some meal options that will allow students to exchange a meal from Piper Dining Hall for those options.

How do I select my meal plan?

  • New, residential students can select their plan when completing their housing application form. If they previously submitted a form without indicating a plan or would like to make changes they should contact the Residence Life Office (859.846.5390 or studentaffairs@midway.edu).
  • All commuter students can select their meal plan by contacting the Business Office at 859.846.5402.
  • Returning, residential students can select their meal plans by contacting the Residence Life Office (859.846.5390 or studentaffairs@midway.edu).

How can I change my meal plan?

Students may change their meal plan through the end of the first week of each semester. After that point, meal plans will be locked and no changes can be made until the following semester.

There are two exceptions to this policy:

  1. Dining Dollars may be added at any point by contacting the Business Office
  2. Commuter Meal Plans may be added at any point by contacting the Business Office

Residential students who fail to select a meal plan will be assigned the basic 19 meal plan.

What are these Dining Dollars I keep hearing about?

Dining Dollars are new this semester and are a declining balance option. Students may preload any amount onto their student ID cards and use it on any on-campus dining option. These may be loaded anytime and do roll over fall to spring semester. Any funds not used after the spring semester will be forfeited.

What is meal exchange?

Enjoy even more meal plan value and variety through our meal exchange program. This option offers the ultimate convenience; your meals can be exchanged for preset combo meals or grab n go options at the brand new Nest Cafe.
